I have been asked a lot lately, "Are you excited? Are you getting nervous?" Actually, I am not feeling either one yet; mostly what I am feeling is stressed--stressed about getting through my to-do list, about selling my car, about how much money I am spending (getting a driving ticket this week didn't help, either)...

| Yes, I am trying to sell my German car so that I can go to Germany! |
I keep trying to tell myself to slow down and to enjoy this time, because this IS my vacation...I am going to Germany to WORK. So, with that in mind, I have been
dragging taking my friends and family with me to eat enough Mexican food to last me until Christmas, I've added a few more BBQ places to my list, I've seen my favorite
Texas country artist a couple of times, and I've even done a few things that could be considered tourist-y, like going to the top of the University of Texas tower:

and going on the tour of the brewery in Shiner:

In case you were wondering, the brewery gives you four 6 oz. samples! |
I still have two weeks (!), so it will all get done, right?
Definitely keep stocking up on the Mexican food, I miss it so much! However the food here really is awesome!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the time you have left! Austin looks lovely; am I mistaken or is it very neat and tidy looking? Good luck on the car selling. I found that stressful too. But it all works out in the end. The bit where you get excited is when you hit the airport and that's IT!!! Woo hoo!!
ReplyDeleteHI there!,
ReplyDeleteI found your blog via somebody else's and am enjoying reading it! I lived in Frankfurt for 13 years and loved it! There is a great group on Facebook and on Yahoo groups called Frankfurt n Motion - lots of activities and a great way to meet people very easily - I particularly recommend the Cafe Crawl on Monday nights!
Good luck and have fun!
Ro
@Alex--that's good to hear! I'm glad to see you are enjoying Germany; I hope you are getting some time off!
ReplyDelete@Fiona--AMEN! I am ready to get on the plane; the to-do list is staying behind!!!
@Ro--thanks for the tip! I am going to check it out! 'Glad you found my blog!
Fiona, Austin is pretty nice, but it has a little of everything...I didn't post pics from the other side of the building. ;)
ReplyDeleteHmm, I should go check out the UT tower. That sounds fun. I'm all for touristy things where you live. Definitely enjoy the rest of your vacation. I can't wait to see pics of you in your new town.
ReplyDeleteI am SO looking forward to reading about your adventure!
ReplyDeleteEspecially as you compare the weather and the food between Texas and Germany!
You could have skipped the brewery -- lots of them here and more varieties of beer than you can ever hope to try! And, in Mainz there is actually some decent Mexican food. Stop worrying. You'll get everything done.
ReplyDelete@Jennifer--you should definitely do it! If you want to take Jessica, though, I would wait until she is much older; there were some little kiddos on the tour and they looked pretty bored.
ReplyDelete@Kelli--Thanks! I'm looking forward to reading your reactions to being back home!
@GG--I went to the brewery for training purposes. :) That's good to hear about Mainz--I'll have to check it out.
It will get done, although those last couple of weeks feel pretty crazy. When we were moving to Denmark, I don't think we breathed a sigh of relief until we were checked in to the airport. I hope that doesn't scare you too much. I also had to sell my car, and did not get it sold until the day before I left! That was scary too. Maybe I should just stop talking now, because everything seems to be coming out wrong. But in all seriousness, you will get it done, and before you know it, you will be settled in your new country!
ReplyDeleteWow, Lindsay! I can't believe you sold your car the day before you left--that would really stress me out!!! Luckily, my car sold very fast, so I'm already feeling less stressed! :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't know about you being excited but you've made ME really excited for you!!! And make the most of that sunshine... it's MISERABLE over here.
ReplyDeleteSo far, it looks like I will be taking some of the sunshine with me...the day I arrive it is projected to be a sunny 24 degrees (Celsius)! :-) We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed!!!
ReplyDeleteKeep enjoying you time here- I know you only have a few days left! I did not know you liked CR he is a great singer!!
ReplyDeleteHooray for the UT Tower tour :)
